Peake Ranch Winery

Peake Ranch, located in the Sta. Rita Hills enjoys sun-drenched days giving way to nights cooled by the Pacific Fog that envelops our vines and provides the extended hang time for our grapes.

Peake Ranch has a wonderful history full of special people who roamed the land. Before John and Gillian Wagner fell in love with and purchased the property in 2013, the ranch was owned by famed Western artist Channing Peake in convoy with his prize stallion Driftwood. Peake memorialized cowboy life on the ranch through his legacy artwork collection. The historic bunkhouse, a Santa Barbara County landmark notably portrayed in the film Sideways, is also significant to the property’s storied heritage, popularizing red wine varietal Pinot Noir.

About Wynne Sargeant

Wynne Sargeant grew up in Sonoma County, in the town of Windsor, and fell in love with the wine culture there. Being raised by a teacher and counselor, her pursuit of winemaking was her own path, stemming from a passion for chemistry and cooking. She moved down to the Central Coast to study Wine and Viticulture at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo in 2010. She began making wine with Stephen Ross Winery in the Edna Valley and moved to the Sta. Rita Hills to continue pursuing cool climate winemaking with Melville Winery. Wynne joined the Peake Ranch team in 2018, inaugurating the new winery and tasting room with the 2019 harvest. Her vision for Peake Ranch is to focus on the unique attributes of this area while emphasizing balance in Californian wines.
